The Line, Poverty In America | A Film & Community Conversation

Join us for an evening centered on the documentary The Line, Poverty in America and a meaningful community conversation about what the poverty line truly looks like — both nationally and here within our community.

The poverty line is closer than many of us think. One unexpected bill, a medical emergency, a job loss — and families can quickly find themselves struggling to meet basic needs.

This event invites our community to take a closer look at what it means to live at or below the poverty line, and to better understand the realities of homelessness and food insecurity in the Monadnock region.

Following the film, stay for a panel discussion and community conversation featuring:

  • Glo Morison, Director & President, Peterborough Food Pantry
  • Susan Howard, Program Director, Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter (MATS)
  • Elizabeth Goodhue, MATS Board Member

Together, we’ll explore how vital local organizations — including the Peterborough Food Pantry, MATS, and the Peterborough Town Library — provide essential support, stability, and dignity to individuals and families facing hardship.

This evening is about awareness, compassion, and connection. It’s about coming together as a community to better understand the line — and how easily someone can slip below it.
