Help Us Provide Hope, Shelter, and a Fresh Start

At Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter (MATS), we believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home—and a chance to rebuild their lives with dignity. As a fully donation- and grant-funded nonprofit, we rely on the incredible generosity of individuals, businesses, and community partners like you to make that belief a reality.

Your support fuels every part of our mission. From keeping our shelter doors open, to providing vital support services, to helping children and families find stability during times of crisis—your donation changes lives.

Choose How You Want to Make an Impact

Your support is crucial in helping individuals and families in the Monadnock area find stability and a fresh start. We've created three distinct funds, allowing you to direct your donation to the area that resonates most with you.

The Rental Assistance Fund: Supporting Core Services

The Rental Assistance Fund provides critical financial support to help participants make the transition from MATS into stable, long-term housing. By covering essential expenses such as moving costs, security deposits, and first and last month’s rent, the fund removes the financial barriers that often stand in the way of independence and a fresh start.

The Steven Fund: Hope for Our Youngest Participants

The Steven Fund is dedicated to the children staying at MATS. Your contribution to this fund provides crucial resources like books, toys, educational materials, and school supplies. It also creates opportunities for enrichment, helping our youngest residents feel seen, supported, and safe during a challenging time. You're investing directly in their well-being and future.

The Hope Fund: Empowering the Path Forward

The Hope Fund was established in 2016 to honor longtime MATS volunteer, Board Member, and past Board President Hope Pettegrew, who served for more than 20 years. Hope believed reliable transportation was essential for families to regain independence, and she worked tirelessly to ensure participants had safe, working vehicles. Today, the Hope Fund continues her vision by helping MATS participants cover critical transportation needs—from car repairs to securing a reliable vehicle—so they can move forward with stability and independence.

Legacy & Planned Giving

When you include Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter (MATS) in your will, estate plans, or through a major gift such as donating a vehicle, you help ensure that safe shelter, compassionate support, and vital resources will be here for our neighbors in need—today and for generations to come.

Whether it’s a financial contribution, a percentage of your estate, or a tangible asset like a car, truck, or van—is a simple and deeply meaningful way to carry your values forward.

Ways to Give:

  • Leave a specific dollar amount or asset

  • Gift a percentage of your estate

  • Donate a vehicle to support guest transportation needs

How It Works:
With the guidance of your financial advisor or attorney, you can easily include MATS in your will or trust. If donating a vehicle, we’ll work with you to arrange transfer and ensure it’s put to its best use. No matter the size or type of your gift, you help pave the path to stability for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our region.
